I cut my bangs too short on Saturday and it's snowing today. I thought it was supposed to be Spring. To quote my friend Jess, who was quoting V. E. Schwab, "March is such a fickle month. It is the seam between winter and spring—though seam suggests an even hem, and March is more like a rough line of stitches sewn by an unsteady hand, swinging wildly between January gusts and June greens."

June better come with some greens and a nice affordable apartment. Hopefully by then my tension headache will be gone and not developed into a brain tumor. Please enjoy my funny little pictures, I spend a long time curating them.

As Per Usual: Books I Have Read Recently

That's right guys, she's literate.

ree

The Only One Left by Riley Sager → Riley Sager the James Patterson of basic horror books. (I see you Final Girl) This book came highly recommended by 2 (two) people. It was good, but I will say I guessed every twist and turn because I'm super smart and intellectual. Also, the cover slaps.

PS. Riley is a man just an FYI to all the girlies that only read girlies.

ree

A House With Good Bones by T. Kingfisher → A little on the nose with the title Ursula, don't ya think. This was not like T. Kingfisher's other book, What Moves The Dead, this had a very millennial vibe to it. I enjoyed the book but the end went a little off the handle. And the narrators voice was kinda cringy, very "don't speak to me unless I've had my coffee"

The main character was a plus-sized bug scientist (Entomologist for those smarties.) And we love to see a fat girl winning so read it for the representation.

Also, the cover quote is so funny, "Southern hospitality to die for." lol

ree

The Legacies by Jessica Goodman → Back to my roots, YA prep school thrillers. Personally, this book could have had more murder.

This book wasn't good but I vibe with it. A good little pallet cleanser. But that one rich girl who figured out that she might just have some privilege at the end of the book pissed me off. Should have given her a villain arch.

Secret LGBTQ book as well, yay lesbians.

The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill → This book made me want to slam my head into a wall. The premise is this woman (Australian) is writing a book and sending the chapter drafts to a man in Boston (Leo). And then the man sends critics back for each chapter with edits and stuff. The issue with this is that the book is mostly this woman's book but because they broke the fourth wall I know all these people are fake so I can't even care for a character. Then the Leo plot is so small it could have been removed from the book and changed absolutely nothing, it would have improved the book to remove Leo.

This was bad.

ree

Come Closer by Sara Gran → A short book from the perspective of a girl being possessed. That's it, it's not bad.

ree

There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins → This is also a movie on Netflix but Netflix changed the plot, the killer, and most things I liked about this book.

First of all, Ollie has pink hair and a lip ring and I love him. Second of all, it was a good book and I don't wanna spoil it. It was a nice YA thriller read, and if they actually made it into a movie that followed the plot it would be really good.

ree

The Island by Natasha Preston → I read her other book, The Lake, and I liked that one better.

Books with teenage influencers are hard to pull off so it was already at a disadvantage. But the whole premise of inviting 6 teen influencers to an amusement park island that for some reason is run by like two 19-year-olds. Ooooookaay, sounds legit.

Other than that just a lot of running around from a killer and the main girl is Not Like Other Girls, so I hate her.

ree

Broken Things by Lauren Oliver → I think this book was just not what I wanted at this time. But this was about a 13 year old girl who was killed and she was a b*tch but that was just a symptom of abuse.

Anyway, Owens's British accent was so funny. Why'd they make him British? It was a good book and I didn't guess the killer. Kinda sad in the end tho.

Secret LGBTQ book as well, yay lesbians.
