For those of you who read the headline and thought "What!?" This is in reference to Charlotte Cowles' The Cut article, and now that I have signed a lease I feel confident in joking about this. Sending $2K and my social in the mail to an unverified location made me think I was a victim of one of these highly complicated, and honestly, low-reward money scams.
Anyhow, I am moving back to Rochester. And I'm doing it because I am lonely. So any and all friends in the Rochester area, please hang out with me, I swear to god!

None, sorry guys it's been rough.

Netflix Canceled Lockwood & Co For Their Own Ghost Show
Last year Netflix released the series Lockwood & Co. This was a YA T.V. show that takes place in an alternate universe where there was an incident 50 years ago called "The Problem" and now ghosts are an actual threat in the streets of London. And only children and teens have these abilities that allow them to see, hear, or feel ghosts. Therefore England has created child armies that fight ghosts.
This show follows a young powerful girl, Lucy, who starts working for this quirky ghost-hunting crew called Lockwood and Co. featuring the titular Lockwood and autism-coded George as they struggle to solve crimes, unmask conspiracies within "Big Ghost Hunting",
and exist as 25-year-old teenagers with no parental figures.
This show was very good for what it was, "cringe" and all. I love this show. It got canceled on a cliffhanger after just one season. As many good Netflix shows have been, (cough cough, I'm Not Okay With This), but thankfully this is an entire book series so if you did want to know more you could.
Fast forward to April 25th, 2024 and Dead Boy Detectives releases on Netflix. Dead Boy Detectives is about two (definitely gayish) ghost boys who team up with a young powerful girl and solve some crimes related to ghost stuff. NOW, I'm not crazy they are different plots, Dead Boy Detectives focus on magic, abuse, and queer themes. While Lockwood & Co is more "universe" based we are solving ghost crimes but within the Lockwood & Co universe something else is going on and it's corporate crime related. Still, they are similar enough to feel a little hurt.
Positive towards Dead Boy Detectives is that it is produced by Good Omens and Sandman creator Neil Gaiman, and it's set within the Sandman universe. So, it's pretty good. I am a little confused because the HBO TV show Doom Patrol has an episode featuring the, *drum roll, Dead Boy Detectives. This has different actors but they have the same dynamic so I venture to say they are the same Dead Boys... making them DC Comic characters. Interesting.

Some Recommendations

Rainy Day Rabbit Holes → Fun history and info podcast hosted by two women in their 40s. They do good research and giggle a little bit. Some of their topics are really interesting and I like them.

Abigail → Fun little vampire movie. There is blood, there are some jokes, there are actors I like. I liked this movie and had a good time. Producers of M3GAN and the new Scream movies. So, expect something like that.

Don't Look Under The Internet → These men talk about and walk us through different internet ARGs, Analog Horror, Reddit Mysteries, etc. I think the topics are really interesting to me. However, these men are a little annoying, they get off-topic so often.
If you know any podcasts that cover this info, let me know.

Under the Bridge→ Interesting new detective/ reporter show that takes place in the 90's. Deals with bullying, abuse, racism, and girlhood. Episodes are still coming out but it is pretty good.

The Broad Perspective → TikTok influencer Megan Cruz has a podcast where she talks about movies. And I like movies. She has an education in film and I like her perspective, pun intended.

Monkey Man → Dev Patel makes good movie. It's an action film, with lots of punching, fighting, and great shots. Watch it!
